We have missed the last 2 shows but are back in Annapolis! Come down to booth a44 to see the SigmaDrive shaft coupling and Autoprop sailboat propeller! We also have 2 chaps from the I’m factory on the stand to answer all your technical questions. Don’t forget there is a 10% show discount!

Boat Show season is about to start and we wanted to share one of our most exciting products with you! Introducing SigmaDrive - a very cool spherical thrust coupler that can easily be fitted to most existing transmissions. It softens the shaft line thereby reducing noise and vibration significantly. As a bonus it removes the need for critical alignment. Either way this unique addition to your engine will save you time and money!

Eco*Star Electric Propulsion Update!

With two of the worlds most advanced electrically and wind powered craft having travelled many thousands of miles propelled by Bruntons Autoprop Eco*Star propeller, and a rapidly growing number of other electric and hybrid powered craft now fitting them, here is an update.

With more and more leisure and commercial vessels being launched powered by electric or hybrid systems it is perhaps not surprising that many ship and yacht builders and naval architects are looking at Bruntons Autoprop Eco*Star as their first choice propeller. In addition, apart from new builds an increasing number of vessel owners are converting their craft from diesel to electric power.

But why the Eco*Star in particular? That time honoured saying, "The proof of the pudding is in the eating" provides the answer. When the Eco*Star was first launched several years ago a small number of vessel owners decided to take the risk of fitting this unique and untried design of propeller to their craft. The results they are achieving, and their reactions to them, are proof enough that the Eco*Star really is the propeller which provides the best all round performance for electrically powered craft. Two prime examples are the highly advanced research vessel the 'Energy Observer' and an increasing number of craft in the Saildrone fleet of autonomous ocean research vessels.

The Energy Observer uses a hydrogen fuel cell. It converts the hydrogen into electricity by reversing the electrolysis process. Their around the world mission is to highlight the importance of renewable energy. The vessel was also fitted with 'wings' to enable her to add wind power to her already impressive list of available natural energy supplies. With the 'wings' the decision was taken to fit two Eco*Star propellers to allow the vessel to make the most effective use of the wings when sailing and motor sailing. To date the Eco*Stars on the Energy Observer have each provided over 10,000 hours of service.

It is for similar reasons that the owners of the Saildrone fleet have decided on Eco*Stars. The first of their fleet to get one was the largest; the Saildrone Surveyor is 20 meters long. Such was the success of the Eco*Stars performance on this vessel that the company have now ordered five more propellers to be fitted to their rapidly increasing fleet. As with the Energy Observer the excellent performance of the propellers in all three main functions, sailing, motoring, and producing hydro power has shown it to be the right propeller for primarily electrically or wind powered craft.

Apart from the two highly advanced examples of craft above that have fitted Autoprop Eco*Stars there are many, more 'normal' vessels, that are doing the same.

We made it to the last day of the sailboat show! We are tired, loosing our voices but very happy! The turnout has been phenomenal with every day busy busy. I t has been some time since we hung out with all our customer friends and catching up, sharing stories, was for sure the best part! Thanks for making the show in 2021 memorable - see you next year!

The days are ticking by now - already at Day 4. Today is normally the family day, all the young and budding sailors come out to inspect their dream boats. It is fun on the stand as the kids always have interesting questions to ask! Yesterday was a full day filled with sunshine and rain, giving everyone chance to wear all of their outfits including the foul weather gear! Tomorrow should also be interesting as it is not on a holiday, for the first time I believe. Exciting stuff here in Annapolis! On the stand today we are focusing on Autoprop, our funny looking sailboat propeller. There is nothing funny though about its performance, saving you 25% in fuel - come find out why on tent B1!

The sailboat show is whizzing by - already day 3. It has been an amazing chance to meet everyone and see how these propellers have made their sailing lives better. I discovered we have Autoprop off to Antarctica on an epic voyage. We have a lot of new owners who have taken the plunge on Leopard catamarans and are thrilled with the propellers and other customers thanking us for years of support as they sadly sell their boats and retire to California to be closer to the newly arrived grandkids. Be sure to come find us on booth B1 and say hello!

Thinking of buying sailboat propeller? How about a shaft coupling to kill noise and vibration? Come to the Annapolis Sailboat Show today, tend B is the place to be! We are focusing today on our flexible shaft coupling system - Sigmadrive. Come see why sailers are fitting this great piece of kit to help with vibration and to reduce the expensive engine alignment costs. Stop by and say hello!!

It has been a long time coming but the show is back - welcome to the 2021 Annapolis sailboat show! King Propulsion is representing Bruntons Propeller in tent B2! We have deals on Autoprop, Varifold and the new SigmaDrive shaft coupling. Check out the show website for details but we will be here all weekend - come stop by!

Parts are still available for the older Autoprop feathering sailboat propellers. This video shows how to install a blade and balance one of the early ball bearing model sailboat propellers. This model is characterized by the greaseless bearings which if looked after correctly will give years more service!

Parts for the propellers and advice on the servicing of these propellers can be found at

Finally!!! Boat Shows are back!!!

We will be at the Bay Bridge Boat Show on Kent Island Maryland. Need to get all the tarnish off the propellers, dust off the booth and hit the road! Very excited to see things getting back to as they should be. I'll be there with all the props and SigmaDrive. Don't know the stand location yet but come along. It is a small show with a great reputation. So excited!!

Saildrive propeller are becoming more common on sailboats. In this video King Propulsion explains why these propellers exist, why the hubs the propellers are so chunky and how to service and maintain them.

The video shows 3 hub types from the Bruntons range of sailboat propellers in particular Autoprop and Varifold.
